May 2025 — Fantasy fans, get ready to ride. “The Great Hunt”, the highly anticipated next chapter in the expanding Wheel of Time universe, is officially in production and expected to hit theaters and streaming platforms in 2026. Adapted from the second novel in Robert Jordan’s beloved series, this epic fantasy promises sweeping battles, deep character arcs, and high-stakes adventure.
Produced by Amazon Studios in partnership with Sony Pictures Television, The Great Hunt builds upon the momentum of the Wheel of Time TV series, which has gained a dedicated following since its Prime Video debut. Now, the world of the Two Rivers, Aes Sedai, and The Dark One is heading to the big screen in a standalone theatrical release that promises to raise the scale—and the stakes.

Returning to direct is Sanaa Hamri, a key creative voice behind several standout episodes of the series. The screenplay, overseen by showrunner Rafe Judkins, adapts the events of the second book: the search for the legendary Horn of Valere, an artifact capable of summoning heroes from the grave, and the continuing rise of Rand al’Thor, the reluctant hero marked by prophecy.
Confirmed Cast:
- Josha Stradowski as Rand al’Thor
- Marcus Rutherford as Perrin Aybara
- Zoë Robins as Nynaeve al’Meara
- Madeleine Madden as Egwene al’Vere
- Daniel Henney as Lan Mandragoran
- Plus new additions rumored to include Henry Golding and Gemma Chan
According to insiders, The Great Hunt will showcase the series’ first large-scale battle scenes, dive deeper into the mythology of the Forsaken, and explore the personal toll of power, prophecy, and war. With filming taking place in scenic locations across New Zealand and Eastern Europe, the production is said to blend practical effects with top-tier visual effects to bring Jordan’s world to vivid life.
“This is where the story begins to truly unfold,” said Judkins in a recent interview. “The Great Hunt isn’t just a quest—it’s a turning point for every major character, and for the world itself.”
“The Great Hunt” is expected to release in summer 2026, and a teaser trailer is rumored to drop at San Diego Comic-Con later this year.
